The ‘Best Wine Event in the World’ is coming to Clarens!
The 2017 Pinotage on Tap festival roadshow will be making a stop in the Free State for the first time ever this year. This famous travelling wine festival usually makes its way to Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban, but this year, on the 4th of November, the festivities will reach all the way to the beautiful town of Clarens.
With the Cape Town and Johannesburg tickets having sold out so quickly, eager wine tasters from all over the country are now scrambling to get their tickets for the Durban and Clarens events. And if you book now you may still be able to join the wine fanatics from the Free State and the neighbouring provinces in what promises to be a most jubilant inauguration of Clarens as a Pinotage on Tap destination.
So, what is it all about?
Just as a good quality Pinotage lingers on the palate, let us too linger – for a moment – on the words “on tap”. What exactly does “on tap” mean and is it as bountiful as it sounds? The answer is yes, and here’s how it works…
When you buy a ticket to the Pinotage on Tap festival it does indeed mean that you will receive glasses upon glasses of free-flowing Pinotage (and other select wines) from some of the best wine estates in South Africa. Everywhere you turn there will be Pinotage wine barrels (yes – with taps), so that no matter where the festival takes you, you’ll never be more than a few steps away from a fresh glass.
With live entertainment, amazing food and a loaded goodie bag on arrival, it’s no wonder the Pinotage on Tap festival has earned the title of ‘Best Wine Event in the World 2014’ (as awarded by Drinks International). The Clarens event will be no exception. With a line-up of great bands creating the perfect atmosphere and a selection of gourmet food vendors – all working their magic to create the most delectable food and Pinotage pairings – we’re sure this will be the first of many fantastic Pinotage on Tap events in Clarens. And with Diemersfontein Wine Estate (creators of the original chocolate coffee Pinotage) being the main sponsor, there’s bound to be some deliciously decadent sweet pairings too!
If you’re craving some of South Africa’s unique red wine, the good news is that there are still tickets for the Clarens event – for now... And you still have time to book your accommodation at Mont d’Or Clarens too. Book your 4-star room at the foot of the Maluti mountains and enjoy luxuries such as spa treatments, complimentary breakfasts after a long day of festivities.
So, when the ‘Best Wine Event in the World’ comes to town, why not stay over at the best luxury hotel and make the most out of your wine weekend?
